This is a great read for older elementary kids. Along the lines of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Celie deals with some complicated but very real issues. The illustrations are the perfect touch to the book.

I was fortunate to have the privilege of beta reading this book for Ms. The book takes place almost a year after the events that took place in Blackbirds. The students finds herself being torn in pieces by things she doesn't understand. I hated to put it down, it definitely kept my attention. With humor and wit, Katherine reveals some of the sisterly baggage that she has been carrying for decades, as well as her conclusion that no matter how complicated the relationship between sisters, there is really no stronger bond.
