At times the prose got a bit too couched for me, but I applaud the author for taking a chance and having fun with experimenting with prose and story. Lawrence Beesley's account of the sinking of the Titanic is simply the best available, save for maybe Major Archibald Butt's harrowing account of being sucked down by the ship only to arrive at the surface to be pulled up on an overturned lifeboat.
